New Delhi: Kerala batter Sanju Samson suffered yet another failure in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 after a cheap dismissal in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Punjab Kings (PBKS) clash on Friday. Samson started off on a positive note as he hit a sensational boundary but could not sustain much departing back to the pavilion for 7 runs off 7 balls.

In CSK’s season-opening match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), the right-handed batter suffered a similar fate as he was out for 6 off 7 balls which included a boundary like today. Samson, who entered into the IPL 2026 with a solid form in his kitty, has failed to show up in the first two clashes for his new franchise.

Xavier Bartlett draws first blood for PBKS

On the last ball of the second over being bowled by Punjab bowler Xavier Bartlett, Samson was left completely deceived as he ended up giving a simple catch to wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh. Bartlett bowled a good length delivery which nipped away slightly from off as Samson attempted a drive but failed to connect properly getting a thin edge straight away to the keeper.

After the Super Kings were put into bat first, the first wicket of Samson silenced the entire Chennai stadium putting the team in a fix. CSK would be wishing to bag a win in this contest after going down in their first. Earlier, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first in the game. While Punjab carried on with an unchanged squad, Super Kings replaced Matt Short with Prashant Veer for the contest.
