Lucknow, Read: In the ITF Junior J-30 Tennis Tournament, which started at the Vijayant Khand Mini Stadium in Gomti Nagar, many players including Abhiday Singh of Uttar Pradesh and Cain Lawani of China performed brilliantly and entered the second round in the qualifying matches of the boys category. Abhiday Singh defeated Haris Khan 6-3, 6-2 in the first round. His footwork and service game were very effective during the match, leaving his opponent no chance to make a comeback. Meanwhile, international player Kain Lawani defeated India’s Rohin Raj Gupta 6-0, 6-2 in a one-sided match. Lavani broke Rohin’s serve thrice with powerful strokes. In other matches, India’s Atharva Shukla defeated Mohammad Shij 4-6, 6-2, 10-6 in a tough fight.
Kushagra Bhardwaj also made a brilliant comeback and defeated Nithinbarath KS 2-6, 6-1, 10-5. Nikunj Khurana defeated Nabhit Sharma 6-0, 6-0, Parthiv Nallagundla defeated Dhruv Pramod 6-0, 6-1 and Viren Suryavanshi defeated Aman Singh 6-0, 6-1 to reach the next round. Apart from this, Shreyanth Mahantesha, Raunak Gilra, Madhav Dadhich, Atharva Sriramoju and Harsh Marwaha also moved ahead by winning their respective matches. According to organizing secretary Samit Kesari, the final qualifying round matches will be played on Sunday, after which the main draw matches will be held from May 4 to 9.
In the qualifying matches of the girls’ category, Australia’s Trisha Jani defeated India’s Saanvi Ravikant Raju 6-3, 6-4. Shazfa Vania defeated Pakhi Bisht 6-0, 6-0. Modi Hemakshi Mayur defeated Ahana 4-6, 7-5, 10-6. Apart from this, Lekhya Shri Nunnboina entered the next round by defeating Preetika Rana 6-1, 7-5 and Sara Hooda defeated America’s Anaya Sen 6-3, 7-5.
