Sweet Magnolias fans are threatening to boycott season five.

Netflix subscribers have been waiting over a year for the South Carolina drama to return for its eagerly awaited fifth series.

Offering a glimpse of what's in store on Thursday, June 11, the streaming giant has released the Sweet Magnolias season five trailer, confirming some significant changes.

However, what has truly captured fans' attention is the absence of scenes featuring Maddie (played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher) and Bill Townsend's (Chris Klein) son, Tyler (Carson Rowland).

The Sweet Magnolias season five trailer contains no footage of Tyler alongside Annie (Anneliese Judge), who finally became a couple towards the end of series four.

Heading to YouTube's comments section, one viewer asked, "Is Ty not there this season?" while another responded, "Ty better be in this season, or else I'm not watching."

A third exclaimed: "Finally it's coming back! Just hoping Ty is still in the season since Carson isn't anywhere in this trailer."

Another added: "This is cool and all you know.. but where is Tyler I need to see Tyler and Annie."

With one fellow fan posting: "Love this show, but where are Ty and Annie??!!!

"We've waited so long for them to get together, and having them break up after like two episodes. Give us TY and ANNIE!"

While Tyler is nowhere to be seen in the trailer, Annie does make a brief appearance in the season five preview.

She is shown alongside her father before later being consoled by her friends in the kitchen.

This is most probably connected to Annie's imminent departure to study at the Monterey Institute for the Arts in California to further her photography career, as established in season four.

At the close of season four, Ty revealed that he was set to embark on a music tour across Europe shortly after he and Annie became a couple.

Annie had originally planned to accompany him, but ultimately chose to follow her own career aspirations, leading the smitten pair to part ways.

Sweet Magnolias season five premieres on Thursday, June 11, on Netflix.
