The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced a recruitment drive for 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) positions, with applications starting on May 15, 2026. This initiative presents a significant opportunity for young candidates across the nation.
This recruitment will fill vacancies across various railway zones, targeting individuals with ITI, Diploma, or Engineering qualifications. A detailed notification will soon follow, outlining essential information such as zone-wise vacancies, examination syllabus, application fees, reservation policies, and medical standards.
The online application process will open on May 15, 2026, and will remain available until June 14, 2026. Candidates must apply online through the centralized portal, where they will register, complete the application form, and select their preferred Railway Recruitment Board.
The Assistant Loco Pilot role is classified under Level-2 of the 7th Pay Commission pay scale, offering an initial basic salary of ₹19,900 per month. Additional allowances and benefits will also be provided, enhancing the overall compensation package.
Applicants must have completed their 10th grade and possess an ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) from a recognized institution. Candidates with a Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile engineering, as well as B.E./B.Tech degrees in relevant fields, are also eligible. Valid ITI trades include Fitter, Electrician, Wireman, Diesel Mechanic, Machinist, Turner, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, with a maximum age limit of 30 years. Age relaxation will be provided for candidates from reserved categories as per applicable regulations.
The selection will involve several stages, including:
1. Computer-Based Test (CBT-1)

3. Aptitude Test (CBAT)
4. Document Verification
5. Medical Examination
