Persib Bandung’s foreign defender, Frans Putros, has shared encouraging news as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Putros is currently training with the Iraq national football team, which is holding a training camp in Spain as part of its World Cup preparations.
During this training programme, Iraq played a friendly match against Andorra.
The match took place at Andorra’s home ground, Estadi de la FAF, on Friday (29 May 2026).
Andorra, geographically located close to Spain, hosted the encounter that ended with Iraq claiming a 1-0 victory.
The only goal of the match was scored by Ali Yousif in the 20th minute.
Iraq’s head coach, Graham Arnold, fielded his best eleven players as starters.
In goal, Fahad Talib was trusted to start, while the defensive line consisted of Akam Hashem, Zaid Tahseen, Ahmed Yahya, and Mustafa Saadoon.
In midfield, Aimar Sher and Zidane Iqbal controlled the play, while the attacking quartet featured Marko Farji, Ahmaed Qasem, Ali Yousif, and Mohanad Ali.
Frans Putros was given the opportunity to feature in the match.
He came on as a substitute in the 65th minute, replacing Mustafa Saadoon.
This victory provided a morale boost for Iraq as they continue their World Cup preparations.
Following the match, the Iraqi squad returned to Spain to resume their training camp.
“A closed morning training session for the Lions of Mesopotamia at the Spain camp followed yesterday’s friendly against Andorra, as preparations continue for upcoming challenges,” read a statement from the Iraq national team on Saturday (30 May 2026).
At the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Iraq will compete in Group I alongside Norway, France, and Senegal.
