The start of June has brought another increase in commercial LPG cylinder prices, adding to the operating costs of restaurants, hotels, caterers, and small businesses that rely heavily on cooking gas. Oil marketing companies have revised the rates of commercial LPG cylinders effective June 1, 2026, with prices increasing by up to ₹53.50 in major cities.

While the latest revision affects commercial and select free-trade LPG cylinders, there is some relief for households as domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.

Commercial LPG Cylinder Becomes Costlier

According to the latest price revision, the cost of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased across major cities.

The revised rates show:

City Increase New Price (19 kg Commercial LPG)
Delhi ₹42.00 ₹3,113.50
Kolkata ₹53.50 ₹3,255.50
Mumbai Revised As per local rates
Chennai Revised As per local rates

The new prices came into effect on June 1 and are expected to impact businesses that use commercial LPG for daily operations.

Industry observers note that repeated increases in commercial fuel costs often raise operational expenses for food service establishments, which may eventually influence consumer prices.

Free Trade LPG Cylinder Also Becomes More Expensive

In addition to commercial cylinders, the price of the 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder has also been revised upward.

The latest revision includes:

  • ₹11 increase in the price of the 5-kg FTL cylinder

  • New Delhi retail price: ₹821.50

These cylinders are commonly used in specific commercial and portable cooking applications.

Domestic LPG Users Get Relief

Unlike commercial LPG cylinders, domestic consumers have not been affected by the latest revision.

The price of the standard 14.2-kg household LPG cylinder remains unchanged across major cities.

The last revision in domestic LPG rates took place in March 2026, when prices were increased by ₹60 per cylinder.

Current domestic LPG prices are:

City Domestic LPG Price (14.2 kg)
Delhi ₹913.00
Mumbai ₹912.50
Kolkata ₹939.00
Chennai ₹928.50

Actual prices may vary slightly depending on state taxes and local levies.

Commercial LPG Prices Have Seen Frequent Revisions

Commercial LPG prices are generally revised on the first day of every month based on international energy prices, exchange-rate movements, transportation costs, and other market factors.

Businesses have witnessed multiple revisions over recent months, resulting in increased fuel expenses.

Hotels, restaurants, tea stalls, catering businesses, bakeries, and food vendors are among the sectors most affected by these changes because cooking gas constitutes a major part of their operating costs.

Fuel Supply Remains Adequate Across the Country

Despite concerns regarding rising prices, government officials have assured consumers that there is no shortage of LPG or other petroleum products in the country.

Officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas recently stated that India currently maintains sufficient inventories of:

  • LPG

  • Petrol

  • Diesel

  • Natural Gas

  • Crude Oil

Authorities have also directed oil marketing companies to maintain adequate LPG stocks to ensure uninterrupted supply throughout the country.

Government Monitoring Demand and Supply

The government is closely monitoring fuel availability and consumption patterns across different regions.

Officials noted that some districts have reported unusually high fuel demand, particularly from:

  • Agricultural activities

  • Bulk commercial purchases

  • Seasonal consumption increases

To avoid supply disruptions, refineries are operating at high capacity and LPG production levels remain strong.

Authorities have also indicated that measures are being taken to discourage hoarding and ensure smooth distribution.

What the Price Hike Means for Consumers

While household consumers have escaped this month's increase, commercial users are likely to feel the impact immediately.

Businesses that rely heavily on LPG may experience:

  • Higher operating expenses

  • Increased food preparation costs

  • Pressure on profit margins

  • Potential menu price adjustments in some sectors

However, since domestic LPG prices remain unchanged, the latest revision is unlikely to have a direct impact on household cooking expenses.

The Bottom Line

The June 1 price revision has made commercial LPG cylinders costlier by up to ₹53.50 in major cities, while 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinders have also become more expensive. Domestic LPG consumers, however, have been spared from another increase for now.

As energy markets continue to respond to global developments, businesses and consumers alike will be watching future monthly revisions closely to see whether LPG prices stabilize or witness further increases in the coming months.
