Manchester United hailed for ‘bargain’ Ederson deal as INEOS eye next Premier League signing

Manchester United have earned widespread praise for completing what many describe as a “bargain” deal to sign Ederson Silva, while reports suggest they are preparing to pursue Bournemouth’s Alex Scott as their next target.

With the Red Devils set for a busy summer transfer window ahead of their return to the UEFA Champions League, they have already finalised an agreement with Atalanta to bring in Brazilian midfielder Ederson for approximately £38 million.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Brazil midfielder Sandro, a compatriot of Ederson, has explained why he believes the move represents excellent value for Manchester United.

“I think Ederson as well, £38 million I believe,” Sandro told BritishGambler.co.uk. “When you consider that Manchester United have been linked with Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, and Tchouameni from Real Madrid — all of whom are world-class but come with huge price tags — £38 million for Ederson looks like a real bargain in today’s market.”

He added: “I know he’s a top-quality midfielder. He’s represented Brazil on a few occasions with the national team. I’ve seen some of his matches — even though I haven’t watched every game — and I know he’s physically strong. He definitely has the attributes to thrive in the Premier League, and I know several other English clubs were also interested in signing him.”

Manchester United are expected to recruit at least one more midfielder this summer. They have been heavily linked with Bournemouth’s standout player Alex Scott, with reports from Football Insider claiming that the club’s hierarchy are “plotting a move” for the England international now that the Ederson transfer is “all but done.”

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown confirmed that Scott is indeed on the club’s radar but explained why he doubts a deal will materialise during this transfer window.

“Alex Scott is on Manchester United’s radar, as he is for many top clubs,” Brown told Football Insider. “He’s been involved with the England setup before the World Cup, which is a strong endorsement from Thomas Tuchel and has enhanced his reputation.”

He continued: “However, from what I’ve been told, I don’t expect United to make a move for him right now, as he doesn’t fit the profile of midfielder they’re currently targeting. They’ve already agreed a deal for Ederson from Atalanta, who is a dynamic, aggressive midfielder likely to replace Casemiro.”

“They’re still looking to add another midfielder alongside him, which is why names like Scott keep coming up. Kobbie Mainoo has returned to the squad, Ederson will likely play beside him, with Bruno Fernandes positioned ahead and Mason Mount also part of the setup.”

“The type of midfielder they want now is someone in the mould of Elliot Anderson — a player who covers ground tirelessly, wins tackles, and drives the ball forward. Scott doesn’t entirely fit that description, so while he remains on their radar and is clearly admired, I don’t think United will move for him at this stage.”
