Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly joined the competition to sign West Ham United duo Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville, as Manchester United and Real Madrid face fresh rivalry in their pursuit of the Portuguese midfielder.
The Ligue 1 champions have initiated contact with the London club regarding a potential double deal, as they look to reinforce their squad depth ahead of another campaign targeting domestic and European success. Sporting director Luis Campos is said to be spearheading the move to bring both players to the Parc des Princes.
PSG target West Ham pair
As per a report from FootMercato, the reigning European champions are eager to strengthen their ranks with quality additions in both midfield and attack. Campos has identified the West Ham duo — Fernandes for the central role and Summerville for the wing — as fitting options to enhance balance and creativity within the team. Initial discussions have already been held following the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship, which has made several of their top players vulnerable to transfer approaches.
West Ham set steep price tags
Talks are said to be advancing swiftly behind closed doors, with the Premier League side making their valuation clear to PSG’s management as they prepare for a major summer rebuild. To fend off competition from Manchester United and Real Madrid, Campos has begun direct communication with West Ham’s leadership, who have placed an €80 million price tag on Fernandes. In addition, the east London club are demanding around €50 million for Summerville.
Financial pressure prompts sales
West Ham’s relegation has left the club in a precarious financial position, forcing them to consider selling some of their key players to balance their books and reduce the wage load. This situation could favour top European clubs like PSG, who are looking to capitalise on market opportunities. For Campos, signing Fernandes would continue his strategy of adding Portuguese talent, following the successful acquisitions of Vitinha and Joao Neves in recent seasons.
Transfer contest intensifies
Paris Saint-Germain now face a crucial decision on whether to submit a formal combined offer to meet West Ham’s valuation. However, securing Fernandes will not be easy, with both Manchester United and Real Madrid maintaining strong interest in the 19-year-old midfielder. Meanwhile, Summerville remains focused on his international duties, representing the Netherlands at the ongoing World Cup. Once the tournament concludes, all involved parties are expected to have a hectic summer transfer window ahead.
