Sweden vs Tunisia preview: Graham Potter and Sabri Lamouchi set for tactical showdown at the World Cup

Tunisia were among the few teams that went through the qualification campaign without conceding a single goal, but they are expected to face a far sterner test here.

It promises to be a classic clash of attacking flair versus defensive discipline when Sweden take on Tunisia in Guadalupe on Sunday night.

Group F was already tipped to be one of the most entertaining groups after the draw, and the Netherlands and Japan certainly lived up to that billing earlier in the day with a 2-2 draw in Dallas.

Now, the World Cup moves south of the border as one of the most picturesque stadiums in global football hosts Sweden versus Tunisia.

Tunisia were one of only a few sides to complete qualifying without letting in a goal, joining the Ivory Coast and England in that elite defensive group.

Despite that impressive record, Tunisia opted for a managerial change after a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign earlier this year, appointing former Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi in January.

This change makes Tunisia somewhat unpredictable. Lamouchi has overseen only four matches so far, producing mixed results: a 1-0 victory over Haiti, a goalless draw with Canada, a 1-0 defeat to a ten-man Austria, and a heavy 5-0 loss to Belgium when Tunisia themselves were reduced to ten men.

While Tunisia may lack globally recognised stars, they will rely heavily on former Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri to add creativity and spark in the number 10 role.

Their best chance of success could lie in maintaining a tight defensive structure, but that will be tested against Sweden’s attacking duo of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres.

Sweden, however, have had their own share of complications. Strangely, they failed to win any of their six qualification group matches, but gained a lifeline through their UEFA Nations League performance.

In a decisive move, the Swedish Football Association appointed Graham Potter to lead the play-off campaign. The former Brighton and Chelsea manager made an immediate impact, guiding his side to victories over Ukraine and Poland to secure their World Cup berth.

The major tactical question now is whether Isak and Gyokeres will be deployed together at this tournament.

Arsenal forward Gyokeres scored a hat-trick in the semi-final playing as a lone striker, before netting the winner in the final, all while his Liverpool counterpart remained sidelined through injury.

This leaves Potter with an important decision to make regarding his attacking setup, but Sweden appear to possess just enough quality to edge past Tunisia in this encounter.

Score prediction: Sweden 2-0 Tunisia
