POS-KUPANG.COM, KEFAMENANU – Orry Palle, Head Coach of Sekolah Bola Biinmaffo (SBB) Kefamenanu, expressed his excitement about the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 Group F match between Japan and the Netherlands, which will take place at the Dallas Stadium in Texas, United States, tomorrow. He believes the encounter will be an exhilarating spectacle.
According to him, this meeting between the European and Asian football giants will not only be a tactical battle but also a clash of prestige. The fixture has become one of the most anticipated matches for football fans worldwide.
As a former Asian champion, Japan arrives with a fresh squad and stands out as one of the Asian nations with an advanced football development system.
Japan has proven its quality in recent friendly matches, successfully defeating top footballing nations such as Brazil, England, Germany, Spain, Bolivia, and several other teams.
“Their long-term target is to win the World Cup by 2050, but for the 2026 tournament, Japan is a dark horse that deserves serious attention,” Orry said on Sunday, 14 June 2026.
He further noted that Japan’s football technology has been upgraded, now aligning with modern trends in Europe and Latin America.
As an avid supporter of the Netherlands national team, Orry acknowledged that Japan represents Asia with strong potential that big teams must take seriously.
He predicted that the match would end in a 1-1 draw.
Orry also admitted that the Netherlands remains one of the favourites to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He highlighted that many Dutch players currently play for elite European clubs, contributing to the team’s strength.
However, he warned that the Netherlands should not underestimate Japan. Under the leadership of head coach Ronald Koeman, the Dutch team has adopted a slightly different playing philosophy.
During recent friendly matches and World Cup qualifiers, the Netherlands nearly achieved a clean sweep of victories, a record that Japan should carefully consider as an Asian representative.
Orry added that the Netherlands enters the 2026 World Cup with the ambition to redeem their past disappointments. Although often dubbed the “Crownless Champions,” maintaining consistent performance and tactical discipline will be crucial for them. (bbr)
