The program, which runs through Oct. 15, allows Chinese nationals to enter Cambodia without a visa for stays of up to 14 days, China Daily reported.

Travelers can make multiple entries during the trial period, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

Cambodia’s Tourism Minister Huot Hak said authorities are targeting more than 600,000 Chinese visitors during the four-month pilot and hope to attract over 1.2 million Chinese tourists this year, Khmer Times reported.

“Cambodia is fully prepared to provide warm hospitality, high-quality services and memorable experiences for visitors,” he said, citing the country’s accommodation, dining and retail sectors.

China remained Cambodia’s largest source of foreign tourists in the first four months of 2026, accounting for 331,199 arrivals, ministry data showed.

The visa waiver is part of Cambodia’s broader effort to restore Chinese visitor numbers to pre-pandemic levels.

The country received around 1.2 million Chinese tourists in 2025, up from approximately 850,000 in 2024.

However, arrivals remain well below the record 2.36 million Chinese visitors recorded in 2019.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore already waived visas for Chinese tourists.
