As the countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues, football fever is gripping fans across Kotawaringin Timur (Kotim) in Central Kalimantan.
Predictions are pouring in regarding which nation will lift the most prestigious trophy in world football this year.
One of the most enthusiastic fans is Cok Orda Putra Legawa, Head of the Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) of Kotim, who is eagerly awaiting the start of the global tournament.
Speaking on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Cok Orda expressed his excitement and revealed his pick for the tournament’s top contender.
Among the many participating nations, he believes the French national team stands out as the strongest candidate to win the World Cup.
According to him, Les Bleus possess exceptional squad depth across all departments—from attack and midfield to defence and the coaching staff.
“I’m supporting France. In my opinion, they have one of the best squad depths in this World Cup edition. They are solid in every area—attack, midfield, defence, and even the coaching team,” said Cok Orda.
His confidence is not without reason. France continues to be powered by several star players who have been performing consistently at the highest level of European football.
Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele remain two of the most closely watched figures, both capable of making the difference in crucial matches throughout the tournament.
“France has many quality players—Mbappe, Dembele, and others who are currently in top form,” he added.
Cok Orda also pointed out that France’s recent World Cup record gives them a significant advantage. In the last three editions, France triumphed in 2018 and finished as runners-up in 2022, narrowly losing to Argentina in the final via a penalty shootout.
This track record demonstrates the consistency of Les Bleus at the highest level of world football.
For Cok Orda, the disappointment of losing in the 2022 final serves as added motivation for the French squad to reclaim the world title.
“In 2022, they finished as runners-up after losing to Argentina. I think this year, France has a strong chance to win the World Cup again,” he stated.
As discussions heat up about the tournament favourites, Cok Orda believes that the 2026 World Cup will be fiercely competitive. Nonetheless, he remains confident that France has the quality to reach the final and emerge as champions.
“Looking at their current squad composition, I’m optimistic that this is France’s year,” he concluded.
