There are question marks over the fitness of Team India’s veteran batsman Rohit Sharma. He has been selected in the Indian team for the upcoming series against Afghanistan but he will have to prove his fitness. Rohit was out of some matches during IPL 2026 due to a hamstring injury. He took the field for Mumbai Indians at the end of the season. But did not appear to be in touch.
Speculation regarding his future has intensified as his fitness and form have declined. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and selector Saba Karim has said that Rohit has 6 months time in which he will have to prove himself.
Saba Qarib told news agency PTI that Virat Kohli has completely convinced the selectors with his fitness and hunger for runs before next year’s ODI World Cup, but Rohit Sharma is yet to prove his fitness and form. The selectors will keep a close eye on him for 6 months and only after that they will decide whether to select him for the ICC mega event or not.
Saba Karim, who played 1 Test and 34 ODI matches for India, said about Rohit, ‘I believe that Rohit will have to work very hard. He will have to pay a lot of attention to his fitness and batting.
He further said, ‘I think the selectors will keep a close eye on Rohit’s performance in the next 6 months to decide whether he can be included in the team or not. Regarding Virat Kohli, I am sure that he is completely confident and he will participate in the ODI World Cup. Kohli’s performance and fitness is excellent and his hunger for runs remains the same as before. He doesn’t need to prove anything.
Let us tell you that while there are question marks on Rohit’s fitness before the ODI series against Afghanistan, Kohli is out of the series due to hamstring injury.
