Punjab FC has officially announced a three-year contract extension for defender Khaimingthang Lhungdim, effective before the 2026-27 season. Lhungdim joined the team from NEROCA FC prior to the I-League 2022-23 season.

Since his arrival during the I-League campaign, now referred to as the Indian Football League, Lhungdim has been integral to the club's development over the last four seasons. He played a significant role in the team that won the I-League, marking a historic promotion to the Indian Super League.

Lhungdim has made a total of 85 appearances for Punjab FC across various competitions, contributing one goal and seven assists. His versatility has made him a regular in domestic matches, and he served as one of the captains during the 2025-26 Indian Super League season. He participated in 12 matches in the ISL that season, showcasing his leadership and experience.

Reflecting on his contract extension, Khaimingthang Lhungdim expressed, "This feels like home. I have developed significantly as both a player and a person during my four years at Punjab FC. Some of my most cherished memories, including winning the I-League and making my ISL debut, have occurred here. I take great pride in wearing this jersey, and I believe there is still much to achieve. Our best days are ahead, which is why I am committed to staying with the club."
