Vietnam has exported its first shipment of ready-to-eat poultry eggs to Japan, a market with some of the world’s strictest food safety standards.

The shipment, sent by Vinh Thanh Dat Food (VFood) on Thursday, marks the outcome of cooperation between the food company and its Japanese partner.

The two sides spent nearly two years preparing, researching and refining the product. Developed with support from Japanese experts, the ready-to-eat eggs are tailored to Japanese consumers and meet the country’s stringent food safety standards.

The shipment not only reflects VFood’s efforts to enhance the value of Vietnamese eggs but also creates new opportunities for processed egg products to enter demanding international markets.

Vietnam’s poultry egg market is facing an oversupply after many farms expanded their flocks when egg prices were high. Production has since outpaced demand, leading to a decline in prices.

Expanding export markets is expected to help absorb the excess supply, improve poultry farmers’ incomes and give them greater confidence to maintain production.

In the long term, this also helps farmers gradually standardize and upgrade their production processes while boosting Vietnam’s poultry egg sector.
