The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian team for the three-match ODI series against England. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the team, while star batsman Virat Kohli has also been included in the team. However, his playing cannot be considered certain yet.
BCCI said in its press release that Virat Kohli’s availability will depend on his fitness report. If he gets fitness clearance from the medical team, only then he will be able to play in the ODI series against England. The thing to note is that the first T20I series in India’s tour of England will be held. Five T20I matches will be played in this series, which will start from July 1. After this series, a three-match ODI series will be played between the two teams.
Virat Kohli could not play the ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring (muscle at the back of the thigh) injury during the final of IPL 2026. Now he has been selected in the team for the England series but the final decision on his fitness will be taken only after the medical report comes.
Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli*, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar.
BCCI has also informed in its press release that spinner Varun Chakravarthy is in the final stages of recovery from his left leg injury. He suffered this injury during IPL 2026. For this reason he will not be able to play in the T20 series against Ireland.
