Liverpool continue to be strongly linked with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who has impressed for Ivory Coast at the World Cup. The 19-year-old, set to feature against Norway in the Round of 32, has also attracted significant attention from Paris Saint-Germain, who now appear likely to secure his signature.
If Diomande does complete a move to PSG, it would be a setback for Liverpool, who are in search of an energetic young wide player following Mohamed Salah’s departure. However, the Merseyside club could turn their attention elsewhere.
Reports suggest that Liverpool are monitoring PSG winger Bradley Barcola as a potential alternative. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the French forward could be available should a “big proposal” arrive for him this summer.
The French international netted 13 goals in 49 appearances for the European champions last season. Despite his contributions, manager Luis Enrique has often preferred Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in wide attacking roles.
Liverpool’s interest in Barcola reportedly dates back to 2025. However, journalist David Ornstein notes that PSG are reluctant to sell the 23-year-old and would rather keep him as part of Enrique’s rotation, especially if they secure a marquee signing such as Diomande.
Barcola, who joined PSG in 2023, is valued at well over £100 million by the Ligue 1 champions. The club are under no pressure to sell, even if they spend heavily on Diomande. Nonetheless, the player himself is understood to be hesitant about signing a new contract, as he seeks more consistent playing time.
With AC Milan closing in on the signing of Goncalo Ramos from PSG for a club-record fee, and the likes of Lee Kang-in and Randal Kolo Muani expected to depart, Enrique remains keen to retain Barcola’s services.
It remains uncertain whether a substantial bid from Liverpool could tempt PSG into negotiations. From a tactical perspective, Barcola would fit well into Andoni Iraola’s attacking system at Anfield. His pace, technical ability, and versatility would make him a valuable addition to the Reds’ squad.
However, much will depend on the transfer fee PSG demand and Barcola’s own willingness to leave Paris in pursuit of regular first-team football.
