Aston Villa have reportedly reignited their interest in Johan Manzambi, looking to intercept Newcastle United’s ongoing pursuit of the young Swiss midfielder.
As per reports from Sky Germany, Villa have reopened discussions with SC Freiburg over a potential deal for the 20-year-old, despite Newcastle already agreeing on a fee of approximately €60 million with the German side.
While Villa are believed to be making a late attempt to sway Manzambi’s decision, Newcastle remain confident that they will secure the player’s approval, with a final verdict expected in the coming days.
Manzambi, who impressed for Switzerland during the World Cup before a knee injury sidelined him for their last two matches, has been widely praised for his maturity and vision in midfield despite his young age.
The promising midfielder remains tied to a long-term contract with Freiburg, which runs until 2030, making him one of the Bundesliga club’s most valuable assets.
