It had initially appeared that Newcastle United were on the verge of completing the signing of Johan Manzambi from SC Freiburg, after agreeing a transfer fee of approximately €60 million with the Bundesliga club.

However, according to multiple reports — including those from Sky Germany, Fabrizio Romano, and English journalist Ben Jacobs — Aston Villa have successfully intervened and are now set to secure the signature of the 20-year-old Swiss international instead.

Sky Germany revealed on Sunday evening that Aston Villa have reached a full agreement with SC Freiburg for a deal valued at close to €70 million, which includes potential add-ons.

Manzambi has reportedly accepted a long-term contract with Aston Villa. The talented youngster is expected to undergo his medical examination in the coming days before the transfer is officially confirmed by the club.
