The schedule of the Indian cricket team is gradually becoming busier. After completing the tour of Ireland and England, the T20 series is currently being played in Zimbabwe. After this there will be a tour of Sri Lanka and from there again matches will be played continuously in different formats and countries. But during this time, a series is also going to happen in which Team India will have to play without some of its big players. Many big players including Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan may sit out of the India-West Indies ODI series as all of them have been selected in the Asian Games 2026 team.

Asian Games 2026 is to be organized at the end of September, which will be held in Japan. This time also a cricket event has been organized in these games, in which the Indian team is also participating. In the last games, India had won the gold medal. Although, then India had sent a very young team, but this time BCCI has selected a very strong team under the leadership of new captain Shreyas Iyer, which also includes stars like Jasprit Bumrah.

The teams for these games had already been announced but the schedule of the matches was announced on Friday 24th July. Cricket matches in the Asian Games will run from 24 September to 1 October, in which India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have got direct place in the quarter finals. In such a situation, the Indian team will present its claim to win the gold medal in this Asian Games.

But this will affect the ODI series between India and West Indies, which will be played during this period. A series of 3 ODI matches is to be played between the two countries, which will start from 27th September and will continue till 3rd October. That means there is a direct conflict between the schedules of the Asian Games and the ODI series, due to which Team India will have to enter the ODI series without big players.

If we talk about those players who can stay away from this ODI series, then it includes some very important names, who have been part of the ODI format team in recent times. Apart from vice-captain Shreyas Iyer and star pacer Bumrah, prominent names like wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan, Akshar Patel, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh are included in this. All these players are part of the T20 squad. Now all eyes are on whether BCCI makes any changes in the squad regarding this or gives priority to Asian Games.
