Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
Several major clubs are keeping tabs on his situation, including Arsenal and Manchester United.
As per a report from The Mirror, the player is valued at around £70 million, and Manchester United are not prepared to pay that figure for him.
The 22-year-old English midfielder has been outstanding in the Premier League, and there is little doubt that he has the potential to grow into a top-level player. Even so, Manchester United have chosen to pull out of the deal because of the price being asked.
It is said that the player would be open to a move to Arsenal. It is still unclear whether the Gunners are interested in signing him. They are aiming to bring in Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United, and it is very unlikely that they will spend on two central midfielders.
The Brazilian midfielder is in the prime of his career, and he could have an immediate influence at Arsenal. For a side aiming to dominate English football and challenge for the UEFA Champions League, a proven player such as Guimaraes would be the ideal option.
At the same time, Scott also has doubts over how much game time he would receive at Arsenal.
Manchester United feel the player should be priced at about £40 million. However, the Cherries are not willing to let him go for a fair fee. He is an important player for them, and they want to recover as much as they can from his departure.
It now appears that a summer move for Scott may be off the table for the moment. It remains to be seen whether any other club will step forward with a significant offer to sign him.
