West Indies beat Pakistan in 1st Test: West Indies has defeated Pakistan in the first test played at Brian Lara Cricket Stadium. West Indies defeated Pakistan by a margin of 90 runs. Pakistan got this defeat while chasing its second smallest target in the fourth innings against West Indies. West Indies had given a target of 211 runs, which was the smallest after their target of 188 runs in 2017. While chasing this target, Pakistan team collapsed for only 120 runs. The big thing is that during this run chase, Babar Azam remained unbeaten till the end and saw the entire spectacle of his team's defeat.
West Indies had scored 311 runs in the first innings. In reply, Pakistan scored 282 runs in the first innings. After falling behind by 29 runs in the first innings, Pakistan's bowlers made a strong comeback in the second innings. Pakistan's bowlers had bundled out West Indies' second innings for 181 runs, in which Mohammad Abbas, who took 5 wickets, played a big role. The result of West Indies being all out for 181 runs in the second innings was that Pakistan got the modest target of 211 runs. This target seemed even more modest because Pakistan had plenty of time to chase it.
But, when the run chase started, the Pakistani batsmen left no stone unturned to destroy the foundation of victory laid by their bowlers. No batsman seemed ready to settle on the wicket. The result was that except Babar Azam and number 10 player Mohammad Abbas, no one could even touch double figures in the run chase.
Babar Azam remained unbeaten till the end after scoring 58 runs, what else can he do? Standing helpless and helpless at the other end, he just saw his batsmen kneel down one by one. Pakistan faced defeat after chasing the target of 211 runs, a defeat which was their 8th consecutive defeat on foreign soil and which left them 0-1 in the 2-Test series against West Indies.
