Liverpool are still in discussions over moves for Ibrahim Mbaye and Yankuba Minteh.

Paris Saint-Germain appear to have indicated that Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye could still leave the club before the transfer deadline, with talks with Liverpool continuing.

PSG have been negotiating with Liverpool for weeks over the two wide players, with Reds manager Andoni Iraola keen to strengthen his attacking options significantly before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1.

Talks over both footballers have dragged on, with the two clubs seemingly some distance apart in their valuations.

Barcola remains Liverpool’s main target as they look to bring in a marquee replacement for the departed Mohamed Salah, though his PSG team-mate Mbaye is also a player of major interest.

PSG head coach Luis Enrique again left both wingers out of his squad for the opening match of their latest Ligue 1 title defence away to Rennes on Sunday. In that game, they recovered from being 2-0 down at half-time to earn a draw thanks to a debut brace from new signing Ferran Torres.

Enrique had taken the same approach in last weekend’s surprise French Super Cup defeat by Lens. He is expected to continue doing so until the end of the window and has refused to discuss either player until the market closes.

However, PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos did speak about Barcola and Mbaye during the television broadcast of Rennes vs PSG at Roazhon Park, appearing to suggest that deals could still be completed very late in the window as he referred to last summer’s £26million Deadline Day sale of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to Manchester City.

Campos was reported to have told L1+: “The transfer window isn’t over at all. Even with incoming transfers, if we find a good opportunity, we’re going to go for it.

“In terms of departures, we’ll see what happens regarding Barcola and Mbaye. I understand your questions about them but you also have to understand my position.

“We’ll see what happens at the end of the window, remember last year with Donnarumma it was done at the end of the window. We’ll see.”

Barcola and Mbaye are not the only attacking targets Liverpool are trying to sign before the deadline. Reports last week claimed they had made a surprise enquiry to Real Madrid over the possible availability of Endrick after his successful loan spell at Lyon.

Liverpool are also understood to remain in active talks with Brighton over Yankuba Minteh, having seen bids worth £50m and £60m rejected last week.

Negotiations are believed to still be ongoing as the Reds consider making a third offer for a player said to be valued by his current club at closer to £70m.

Minteh is currently out after undergoing leg surgery in the summer and may not be fit to play until October or November.
