There have been discussions about cabinet reshuffle in the central government for quite some time, however, it has not been seen yet. There is also a possibility that many big ministers will be on leave. Now, speculations have again started due to a statement by Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari regarding the cabinet reshuffle.
Gadkari said during an event in Nagpur that now he cannot work as much as before and the time has come to hand over the responsibilities to the new generation. Gadkari said that after spending more than three decades in public life, the new generation should now get an opportunity to work.
During his address in Nagpur, Nitin Gadkari stressed the need to hand over the responsibilities to the youth leadership. He said, “The work should be handed over to the new generation. A new generation has come and the old generation is guiding them. I have been working continuously in public life for the last 30 years. I have seen many ups and downs and have received many awards but now I cannot do much work, the new generation should be given a chance to work.”
Apart from talking about handing over the responsibilities to the new generation, Gadkari also mentioned his priorities regarding the development of Maharashtra. He said that the scale of development works will increase further in the coming years. The Union Minister stressed on providing electricity to the tribal areas of the state. Their aim is to ensure that no tribal village in Maharashtra remains deprived of electricity facility and the impact of development is visible in the entire state.
This statement of Gadkari has come a few days after the major organizational reshuffle in BJP. The party had announced its new national team last week. This change is being said to be the biggest reshuffle in the party organization after 2015, when Amit Shah was the BJP president. The new national team is being led by party president Nitin Nabin. 51 new faces have been given place in the 65-member team. This is being seen as a sign of important change in the party organization.
13 national vice presidents have been made in the new national team of BJP. These also include former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former RSS functionary Ram Madhav. At the same time, former Union Minister Smriti Irani has been included among the eight national general secretaries of the party. With a large number of new faces getting responsibility in the new team, the discussion about changes in the organizational structure of the party has intensified.
After the organizational change of BJP, speculations have intensified regarding the possible reshuffle in the Union Cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At such a time, Gadkari’s statement handing over the responsibility to the new generation is being considered politically important. However, in his statement, Gadkari did not give any direct indication about any possible cabinet reshuffle or his post.
