Jack Moorhouse is expected to leave Manchester United on transfer deadline day, with reports indicating that he is set to join Dundee FC on loan.

Moorhouse had drawn interest from several clubs over the summer, including Everton, but Scottish Premiership outfit Dundee now seem to have won the race for his signature on a temporary deal.

The 20-year-old endured a mixed loan spell at Leyton Orient last season, featuring 22 times before that move was ended early in January.

Daily Mail journalist Nathan Salt has reported that “Jack Moorhouse is set to head to Dundee on loan from Manchester United.”

The same development has also been reported by BBC journalist Simon Stone, who said, “Young [Manchester United] midfielder Jack Moorhouse to Dundee on loan for the season.”

It has also been claimed that Moorhouse generated interest from Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers, Huddersfield Town and Stockport County in England, along with further attention from clubs in the Netherlands and Poland.

Having spent last season on loan in England’s League One, Moorhouse has opted for a move to Scotland this time as he looks to enjoy a more productive spell away from Old Trafford.

The Republic of Ireland youth international has already been capped at Under-21 level, and a successful campaign could push him into contention for the senior Ireland side.

The switch will see him join fellow Republic of Ireland youth international Jacob Devaney, who is also on loan in Scotland. Devaney was recently named man of the match on his debut for Hibernian after sealing a second loan move north of the border.

An attacking midfielder who enjoys taking players on, Moorhouse will hope his direct approach can get the Dundee supporters off their seats.

He is at his best when he has space to drive into, and Moorhouse is most threatening when he can receive the ball, turn and run at opposition defences. That is a quality he has shown repeatedly at youth level, although he found it difficult to deliver with consistency at Leyton Orient against more physical opponents.

Even so, when he was at his best, he produced displays that earned praise from Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens, who described Moorhouse as “outstanding”.

With a little more experience behind him, the young midfielder could prove to be a lively presence for Dundee if he is able to rediscover his best form.

Moorhouse will also link up with two former Manchester United academy players at Dundee, Ethan Hamilton and Kieran O’Hara. Neither made a first-team appearance for United before leaving the club in 2020.

Since departing Manchester United, Hamilton has spent much of his career in League One with clubs including Lincoln City and Accrington Stanley before joining Dundee in August 2025.

O’Hara arrived at Dundee a few weeks later, in September 2025, from Kilmarnock. He also made two senior appearances for the Republic of Ireland in 2019.
