Jack Grealish is on course to return to Everton, softening the blow for the Toffees after the departure of a fan favourite.

The Manchester City player is set to rejoin Everton on a season-long loan, after an earlier spell in 2025/26 was disrupted by injury for Grealish.

The 30-year-old has a medical scheduled, and the move is expected to be completed before the 11pm BST transfer deadline on Tuesday evening.

An Everton favourite will move in the opposite direction, with Enzo Maresca’s side aiming to build on their two-from-two start and launch another Premier League title challenge.

Manchester City have agreed a deal worth up to £65 million for Iliman Ndiaye, just days after the 26-year-old had been expected to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur. According to transfer expert David Ornstein, his medical will be carried out this morning.

The Senegal winger has been one of the standout performers over his two seasons on Merseyside, scoring 17 goals and providing three assists in 74 appearances.

In the earlier version of events, former Toffees favourite Richarlison had been tipped to return to Everton. However, the Brazilian now appears to have been unable to reach an agreement with his former club.

On Monday, Richarlison shared a message on his social media accounts that seemed to end talk of a return to Goodison Park — and also ruled out Ndiaye’s proposed move to the North London club.

“My intention was to go back to the place where I was very happy, yes, but the negotiations happened only in the way certain people wanted, and it will no longer be like that,” the Brazilian wrote.

“Despite all this turmoil, I am under contract at Spurs and will remain at the club's disposal,” he added.

As a result, it is Maresca’s team who will have the Senegal forward in their squad this season, after stepping in and reaching an agreement worth £60 million, plus a further £5 million in add-ons, according to BBC Sport.

Rather than Richarlison making a comeback, it will now be Grealish who returns, having recorded two goals and six assists in 22 appearances for the Toffees during the 2025/26 season.

The 30-year-old suffered a foot injury in January, midway through his loan spell from the Cityzens, and what looked to be his final appearance for Everton came against Aston Villa on the 18th of that month.

Grealish has since recovered and has featured from the bench in Manchester City’s 3-0 Community Shield final defeat to Arsenal, as well as in the club’s 2-1 victory over Bournemouth.

According to BBC Sport, the winger is now set for another season-long loan, while Everton are also trying to bring in more attacking reinforcements before the transfer deadline, with USMNT star Folarin Balogun among the players on their radar.
