Among 110 contestants at Miss World 2026, Mola attracted relatively little attention in the opening days of the competition and was rarely mentioned among the early favorites.

As the pageant progressed, however, she steadily gained momentum, performing strongly in preliminary events before emerging as one of the standout contestants on the final night.

Her victory in the Top Model competition for the Americas and Caribbean region secured her a place in the top 40 and established her as a serious contender. Her consistent preparation, confidence and strong stage presence continued to draw attention, and pageant website Missosology predicted before the final that she would finish among the top three.

On Sept. 5, Mola defeated several strong contenders to win the Miss World crown in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province.

Ha Kieu Anh, a member of this year’s judging panel, said Mola’s victory reflected the strong overall impression she made throughout the competition.

All six finalists had distinct strengths, she said, but Mola distinguished herself through her combination of beauty, intelligence, communication ability and a clear sense of purpose.

Kieu Anh said she was particularly impressed by the sincerity and practicality of Mola’s response in the question-and-answer round.

“She did not talk about far-fetched ideas but drew directly on her work as an educator,” she said. “I felt that this was more than just a project for a competition. It was something she truly believes in and pursued wholeheartedly.”

During the final question-and-answer segment, Mola spoke about how she translates her values into action through teaching and community work. She emphasized empathy, responsibility and the potential for women to create meaningful change.

She also said an international title becomes meaningful only when it is used to bring tangible benefits to communities.

Asked about her “Beauty With a Purpose” project, Mola highlighted her work teaching English to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. She said learning the language could give them greater opportunities to study, communicate and develop in the future.

Her answer reflected both her teaching experience and “Voices of Tomorrow,” an education project she had begun before entering Miss World.

The connection between her personal background, community work and onstage message helped strengthen her performance in the decisive round.

The beauty of the Dominican Republic in the Miss World final

Dominican media have described Mola as resilient and experienced in community work, saying her pageant success represents only one part of her career.

Dominican newspaper Free Diary noted that before wearing the national sash, she had already worked as a teacher, television reporter and professional model, experiences that helped prepare her for the pressure and visibility of an international pageant.

Mola had also spent years involved in pageants and fashion before winning Miss World.

She previously won the Miss Teen Américas RD title and represented the Dominican Republic at Miss Teen Américas in June 2018, where she earned the Princess title. The competition became an early milestone in her modeling career, according to Last Minuteand she remained active in fashion and pageants afterward.

Away from the runway, Mola earned a degree in business administration and management from Iberoamerican University, or UNIBE, while also teaching literature and social sciences in English.

She has described education as more than a profession, seeing it as a way to broaden opportunities for children and their communities.

Her experience in television also strengthened her communication skills. As a reporter for Univision New York’s “Ventana a Quisqueya,” she produced stories about Dominican culture, social issues and Dominican communities overseas.

The job required her to interview people, understand complex issues and communicate them clearly to audiences. By the time she arrived in Vietnam for Miss World, she was already accustomed to public speaking, working under pressure and representing her country before an audience.

Mola also drew attention for her appearance and approachable personality.

On international pageant forums, viewers praised her bright smile and warm expression, while beauty queen Bao Ngoc said Mola deserved the title not only for her looks and physique but also for her composure and friendliness toward other contestants.

Vietnamese designer Nguyen Minh Tuan worked with Mola during the Top Model competition on Aug. 27, when she wore an evening gown from his collection.

He praised her professional runway skills and cooperative attitude, saying she took the initiative to try on the outfit and work out how best to present it onstage.

“She knows how to listen, cooperate and respect the team,” Tuan said.

Makeup and hair artists Quan Nguyen and Pu Le, who worked with Mola during her first activities after the coronation, also described her as energetic and easygoing despite a demanding month of competition.

Pu Le said she remained cheerful even after the high-pressure final and rarely showed signs of fatigue.

Doan Thu Ha, a coach in interview and public-speaking skills, said Mola’s experience in education, media and charity work gave her a distinctive profile at Miss World.

She said Mola’s long-term commitment to education was particularly significant.

“For Joheirry, education is not only about sharing knowledge,” Ha said. “It is also about helping young people develop critical thinking skills, confidence and the ambition to move forward in life.”

She added that Mola views language as a tool capable of changing lives by opening up opportunities and giving young people hope.

First held in 1951, Miss World is one of the world’s oldest and largest international beauty pageants, alongside Miss Universe. The competition places strong emphasis on contestants who combine personal qualities and education with meaningful community initiatives.
