Baba Ramdev Health Tips: Nowadays, the problem of back pain is increasing due to working sitting on office chair for long hours, using mobile or laptop in wrong posture and due to less physical activities. If the pain that seems normal in the beginning persists for a long time, it can affect our daily activities. In such a situation, it will prove beneficial for people to make regular yoga and physical activity a part of their daily routine. Patanjali’s founder and yoga guru Baba Ramdev also advises to practice yoga regularly to keep the body flexible and active. Recently he has advised to do some yoga for back and spine problems.

In case of waist and back problems, doing some easy yoga asanas will stretch our muscles, reduce stiffness in the body and help in relaxation. However, while doing any yoga asana, it is also important to keep in mind your physical capacity. Let us know 3 easy yoga exercises considered useful for the waist.

These 3 yoga exercises will provide relief from back pain

1.Bhujangasana will stretch the waist

Bhujangasana is also called cobra pose. In this asana, the upper part of the body is slowly raised while lying on the stomach. Due to this, a slight stretch is felt in the back and waist muscles. When practiced regularly and correctly, it strengthens our back muscles and helps in maintaining the mobility of the spine. It can also prove useful in stiffness caused by sitting for a long time.

Caution- Do not do this without expert advice in case of severe back pain, recent injury or leg pain, tingling or weakness.

2.Reduce back fatigue with Balasana

Balasana is a comfortable yoga posture, which is also called child pose. In this, the body is kept in a relaxed position by bending forward. During this, a light stretch is given around the back, waist and shoulders. Balasana can help in relaxing the body in case of muscle stiffness caused by sitting on a chair all day or due to wrong posture. Practicing this with slow and deep breaths can also bring peace to the mind.

Keep in mind- If back pain increases in this posture, stop the practice immediately. In case of severe or persistent pain, first consult a doctor or physiotherapist.

3. Give rest to the body with Makarasana

Makarasana is considered to be a relaxing posture for the waist and back. In this, the body is relaxed by lying on the stomach. This can help in reducing the tension of back and waist muscles. This posture helps in giving relief to our body in case of fatigue and stiffness that occurs after sitting or standing for a long time. During this, taking deep and slow breaths helps in relaxing the body.

Keep these things in mind while doing yoga

Yoga should not be considered an alternative to any treatment for back pain. If the pain is very severe, spreads to the leg, numbness or weakness is felt, there is injury or the problem persists, then definitely consult a doctor or physiotherapist before starting yoga. Yoga practice should always be done slowly and with correct technique. Also, you should avoid sitting for many hours continuously and you can also include getting up and walking for a while in your daily routine.
