Seeing the increasing popularity of electric vehicles in India, luxury car companies are also trying to strengthen their hold in this segment. German automobile company BMW is now preparing to take a big step in the Indian market with its new electric technology. Models based on the company's new Neue Klasse EV platform may soon be launched in India.
BMW India CEO Hardeep Singh Brar has confirmed plans to the new electric architecture on the occasion of World EV Day. The first model to arrive in India under this series will be the all-new BMW iX3 electric SUV. The biggest feature of the car is said to be its WLTP range of up to 805 kilometers.

108.7kWh battery and 469hp power
The company's sixth generation eDrive technology will be used in the new BMW iX3. It has been revealed that it has a cylindrical cell battery pack of 108.7kWh.
For power, the SUV will be provided with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. This setup will be capable of producing around 469hp of maximum power and 645Nm of peak torque. Due to the large battery and long range, this electric SUV can become an attractive option for long distance journeys also.

400kW fast charging will increase range in minutes
A major feature of the BMW iX3 will also be its charging system. The new SUV is built on 800V electrical architecture and will support 400kW DC fast charging.
According to the company, with the help of this high-speed charging technology, a driving range of more than 350 kilometers can be achieved in about 10 to 12 minutes of charging. If this capacity is available in the Indian market, then the problem of charging time for long distance EV customers can be significantly reduced.

Panoramic Vision will change the cabin experience
In the new iX3, not only the battery and motor, but also the interior will see a big change. Under the Neue Klasse platform, BMW has emphasized on making the cabin more digital and technology based.
Panoramic Vision display will be provided in the SUV, through which important information will be visible in the lower part of the windscreen in front of the driver. Apart from this, features like large central touchscreen, minimalist dashboard and AI based voice assistant are also expected.
The model coming to India may be offered in a long-wheelbase version. This is likely to provide more legroom and better comfort to the rear passengers.

Challenge will increase for Mercedes and Tesla
BMW has already strengthened its presence in the Indian luxury EV market with models like the iX1 LWB and i5 LWB. Now with the arrival of iX3, the company's range of electric cars can become stronger.
Especially the combination of claimed range of around 805 km, all-wheel-drive, strong power and ultra-fast charging can make it special in the premium electric SUV segment. In such a situation, BMW's new electric SUV can present a big challenge for companies like Mercedes-Benz and Tesla in India.
However, the range, price and charging performance in actual Indian conditions will be known only after the launch of the car. Despite this, the new iX3 may prove to be an important model for BMW's electric strategy in India.
