Diksha Dagar, an Indian golfer who did not do well at the Olympics in Tokyo, is hoping to make a big impression in Paris this year. Following South Africa’s Paula Reto’s withdrawal from the women’s competition, the 23-year-old received a last-minute call-up to participate in the Tokyo Olympics. Aditi Ashok, the other Indian player, struggled in the last round and ended fourth, while Dagar tied for 50th place. The same group from India is competing in the women’s golf tournament in Paris.

Dagar participated in two prior Deaflympic competitions. The golfer from Haryana, who made her second participation in 2022, won the gold medal in the final against Ashlyn Grace of the United States. She was also the first athlete from India to compete in the Deaflympics. Dagar has been reliant on assistive technology since he was six years old.

Notwithstanding the difficulty, Dagar made the decision to pick up the game and get pro in 2019. At the age of eighteen, she defeated four-time winner Lee-Anne Pace to win the South African Open. At the Aramco Team Series in London in 2021, Dagar won the team event with Olivia Cowan and Sarina Schmidt.
