On Wednesday night, when the Doon Express train was about to pass, a 7-meter iron rod was found on railway lines in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. When the loco pilot saw the obstruction, he or she used the emergency brakes to stop the potential collision.

Railway authorities claim that on September 18, at around 10:18 PM, the pilot of the Naini-Doon Express, which runs from Kathgodam to Dehradun, reported seeing a pole between Rudrapur station and Bilaspur Road. The train stopped in response to the alarm, and GRP and police officers cleaned the track before the train resumed its route.

According to Rampur SP Vidya Sagar Mishra, there is an ongoing inquiry into the event, which may have been a sabotage attempt. “Several detained suspects are being questioned by GRP. Locals told Mishra that there had been reports of thefts and drug usage along the railway line by some young people from the surrounding villages.

An FIR under Section 150 of the Railway Act has been lodged against unnamed persons, according to Inspector Mukesh Kumar of GRP Rampur. While the inquiry continues, six local males have been placed under arrest to be questioned.

Similar cases with other things blocking railway lines, such as broken rail segments and gas cylinders, have been reported in recent publications. According to the Railway Protection Force (RPF), it is impossible to rule out a terror plot.

Previous accidents include the derailment of over 20 coaches on August 16 without any injuries when a piece of iron from a railway track hit the Sabarmati Express’s engine. On August 24, the Farrukhabad Express almost had an accident due to a piece of wood that was left on the track; however, the pilot was able to stop the train in time. In addition, a gas cylinder on the Anwar-Kasganj line was struck by the Kalindi Express on September 8, but thankfully it did not blow up.
