Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan, who used to hum songs with friends in the fields in childhood and made everyone dance to the song 'Challa', recently gave an exclusive interview to TV9 Hindi Digital. During this, he also shared many stories. His name is one of those artists in the music industry who have made their own identity on their own. He learned humming from nature itself, learned singing in the fields among friends. During the interview, Gurdas Maan told that before becoming famous, he never took training from any guru to learn music. Talking about the present, recently an album of Gurdas Maan has been released, which has been titled 'Sound of Soil'.
Gurdas Maan is known as an artist connected to the soil. Recalling his childhood, he told that in his childhood there was no one to teach music around his village. That is why whatever he has learnt, he has learnt it on his own. He told that earlier he used to go to the fields with his friends, during which the process of singing and humming songs continued throughout the way. It can be said that his journey started with those light-hearted songs and somewhere the title of his upcoming album is also connected with all these stories.
Gurdas Maan said, "When we used to go to the fields as children, I used to sing for them. Just like people used to give money to a stage performer, my friends used to make coins out of the clay of broken pots and give them to me." Talking about Guru in an interview, Gurdas Maan said that when many of his songs became famous among the people, he started learning music from Guru. But due to being busy most of the time, he could never learn properly.
He credited nature for writing songs, composing tunes and singing songs. However, he said that at one time he started learning singing on an instrument from a person. But he was not a musician but a labourer, people called him Rafi because he sang Mohammed Rafi's songs well. Gurdas Maan said that when his Guru used to speak, he used to stutter a bit, but while singing he never stopped at all. Gurdas Maan asked him to learn singing because he had a harmonium. Rafi agreed, but he kept his monthly fee. He said that he would charge 10-15 rupees per month for teaching singing. However, he was not Gurdas Maan's Guru.
Talking about Gurdas Maan's album, the first song of 'Sound of Soil', 'Main Hi Jhoothi' has been released. Shivangi Joshi is seen with Gurdas Maan in this song. Gurdas Maan is also seen dancing in the video of the song.
