India got off to a perfect start with the ball as they left Bangladesh reeling at 26-3 at Lunch on Day 2. Jasprit Bumrah got the wicket of Shadman Islam and Akash Deep followed with the wickets of Zakir Hasan and Moninul Haque on consecutive deliveries. Zakir Hasan was lucky to be out there in the middle as he survived a close LBW call earlier in the session. Facing Siraj, Hasan was a goner after being hit on the pad, but the on-field call was not out. Siraj was sure that he got the man out, however, Rohit Sharma did not go for the DRS. Rohit consulted Rishabh Pant about the review and the wicketkeeper said that the ball might miss the stumps after which Rohit decided against taking the DRS. Later, the replays showed that the ball was going on to hit the stumps. Siraj was not happy when the replays showed that the ball was hitting the stumps while Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant saw the funny side of it.

Ashwin Century, Jadeja Fifty Help India Take Driver's SeatMeanwhile, the Indian innings folded out for 376 early on Day 2. India will be delighted to post a 350+ score as the score looked unrealistic at one stage. Put into bat, India were rattled by Hasan Mahmud who picked up four wickets to leave India reeling at 144-6. This is when R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja joined forces. The pair counterattacked the Bangladesh bowlers and took India to 339/6 at stumps on Day 1, adding a 195-run partnership. Ashwin reached his sixth Test hundred while Jadeja stayed unbeaten on 86. India would have hoped to take the score beyond the 400 run mark, however, Ravindra Jadeja was out without adding to his overnight score. R Ashwin also failed to score much on Day 2 and was dismissed for 113. Taskin Ahmed was the chief destroyer on Day 2 as he picked three wickets in the moring session before Hasan Mahmud returned to end Jasprit Bumrah's stay. The wicket of Bumrah was his fifth of the innings and he became the first Bangladesh bowler to take a fifer in India.
