Not everyone can easily estimate how clean the air is and how healthy it is for our health. According to a recent research, air pollution has been blamed for brain stroke. Along with this, cases of this brain disease are constantly coming to the fore. Research on this has told that what kind of air pollution causes diseases to increase. Know what was revealed in the research

According to a study released on Thursday, ambient particulate air pollution is the biggest risk factor for subarachnoid hemorrhage – a type of brain stroke – on a par with smoking. This was revealed in a study led by an international team of researchers from India, the US, New Zealand, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates. Apart from this, the study showed that air pollution contributes to 14 percent of deaths and disability caused by this serious stroke subtype.

Apart from this, Dr. Vikram Hooded, HOD and Director and Clinical Lead Interventional Neurology, Narayana Health, shared his views on this research. He also said, “Increasing cases of brain stroke are being seen among the youth of India. There has been a 25 percent increase in these cases in the last five years. Most cases are being seen in people aged 25-40 years. This is mainly due to sedentary lifestyle, poor dietary habits, smoking and high stress associated with urban life.

The doctor told the preventive measures

Let us tell you that, to deal with the problem of brain stroke caused by air pollution, Dr. Arindam Ghosh, Consultant-Neurologist of Narayana Hospital, Kolkata, has suggested measures. Regarding this, he said, “Many types of neurological diseases can be avoided by avoiding head injuries, eating a balanced diet rich in nutrients and antioxidants, avoiding smoking, increasing measures to relieve stress such as meditation, exercise or walking and taking adequate care of diseases like diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and dyslipidemia.”

According to statistics, about 185,000 cases of stroke are reported in India every year, of which one stroke occurs every 40 seconds and one death occurs due to stroke every 4 minutes. Despite these worrying figures, many hospitals in the country lack the necessary infrastructure.
