David Graham, voice actor behind 'Peppa Pig', 'Doctor Who', and 'Thunderbirds', passes away at 99

One of the biggest voices in British entertainment , David Graham , known for his iconic presence behind the voices of *Peppa Pig*, *Doctor Who*, and *Thunderbirds*, has passed away, aged 99. The actor's lengthy career covered several decades, voicing some of the most beloved characters in history, and he thus became a household voice to many a heartbeats past their childhood.

He also gave voice to Grandpa Pig in the kids' series *Peppa Pig*, so beloved by children worldwide. His portrayal as the doting and wise grandfather is memorable, making him an integral part of the popular series. The younger generation will remember his voice as part of the soundtrack for their childhood.

Graham also had an earlier career participation in the long-running *Doctor Who* series by lending his voice to a notably frightening Daleks , one of the iconic show villains. He originated the chilling sound of Dalek's voice in a distinct style of staccato language modified by synthesizer for its eerie effect, making it one of his most famous sci-fi contributions.

Another very important role in Graham's career was that in the *Thunderbirds* series, a classic. Here, he lent his voice to several characters, such as Parker-the butler to Lady Penelope. He told an interviewer that one inspiration behind Parker's voice was a real-life experience where a former royal butler approached him with such formal speech that directed the voiceover that Graham gave Parker. Graham voiced Brains, the genius engineer, and Gordon Tracy, the pilot, in *Thunderbirds*. Remarkably, Graham was the only original cast member who returned to the series in the 2015 ITV remake of the series to reprise his role as Parker.

Son of *Thunderbirds* creator Gerry Anderson , Jamie Anderson, paid a touching tribute to Graham following his recent birthday celebration with 2,000 fans at a Gerry Anderson concert in Birmingham. For Anderson, Graham's passing added him to the list of people who brought life to numerous characters throughout iconic shows, from Daleks to Grandpa Pig. He said Graham would be sorely missed by fans and colleagues alike.
