Hyderabad: A back ailment has forced Australia’s Cameron Green to miss the country’s current tour of England. Green’s intentions to play in the Border Gavaskar Trophy Test series against India, which begins in Australia in November, may also be derailed by the injury.

Prior to Australia’s third One-Day International (ODI) match against England at Chester-le-Street, Green was allegedly experiencing back pain. The back injury worsened, and Green was eventually forced to miss the fourth ODI at Lord’s.

The 25-year-old’s back problem was discovered during an initial scan in England, and he will now travel to Australia to recuperate. But additional testing on Green will take place in Australia, and a recuperation strategy will be developed. To be fit for the five-test match series against India, Green most likely has a short window of time.

Green is hardly the only person to have had back pain. Due to a stress fracture in his lower back, he was requested not to bowl throughout the 2019–20 season, and his recovery was slow.

Given that India and Australia are now ranked first and second, respectively, in the World Test Championship points standings, the series is crucial for both sides. The best two teams at the conclusion of the cycle (2023–25) will square off in the Lord’s final the following year.

With their continued dominance against New Zealand, Sri Lanka is now ranked third on the table, and the competition for the top two slots is fierce.

Green will begin his medical evaluation as soon as he lands in Perth on Saturday.

Following the third One-Day International (ODI) against England at Chester-le-Street, the all-rounder complained of back pain. Green played well all around, scoring 45 runs at bat and delivering numbers of 2/45 with the ball.

The team’s thought tank decided not to include Green in the second ODI so he could focus on managing his workload.
