MBBS Admission: Every year 20,000 to 25,000 students go abroad to study MBBS. The major reason for going to countries like Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine for medical studies is low fees and easy admission. Whereas in America and Europe, students go for quality education. Students coming to India after doing MBBS from abroad face the challenge of passing the Foreign Medical Graduate Exam (FMGE). After getting a medical degree from abroad, there is an eligibility test to practice in India. Just imagine how difficult it is to pass it, just from the fact that only 20.19% of the students passed FMGE in June 2024.

Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is conducted twice a year - in June and December. It is organized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). But do you know that those who have medical degrees from all the countries of the world do not have to pass FMGE to practice in India? There are many countries from which MBBS students have been exempted from appearing in FMGE.

For which MBBS students FMGE is not necessary?
Medical students from America, Britain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand do not need to pass FMGE to practice in India. The Medical Council of India (MCI) gave this exemption in December 2011.

How many times can the FMGE exam be given?
There is no limit on appearing in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). One can appear in it more than once. But those candidates who pass the exam are not allowed to appear in it again.
