Dengue is a serious mosquito-borne disease, which has recently been spreading rapidly in most of the states of the country including Gujarat. Dengue virus enters the body through the bite of an infected mosquito (Aedes aegypti), causing a variety of symptoms. It is very important to recognize the symptoms of this disease in the beginning, so that it can be treated appropriately in time. Let us know the initial symptoms of dengue and how much time it takes to recover from this disease.

Symptoms of dengue appear within 4 to 10 days of infection. Symptoms may be mild in the beginning, but gradually they can become severe. The primary symptoms of dengue are as follows.

* Sudden high fever: Fever can range from 102°F to 104°F, which usually comes on suddenly.
* Headache: Severe headache is felt especially behind the eyes.
* Pain in muscles and joints: Pain in various parts of the body especially muscles and joints, also known as 'break bone fever'.
* Fatigue and weakness: The person starts feeling tired very quickly and becomes weak.
* Skin rash: Red rashes appear on the skin, causing itching and burning.
* Nausea and vomiting: In many cases, the patient may also complain of nausea and vomiting.

How long does it take to recover from dengue?
Most patients recover within 7 to 10 days of dengue symptoms appearing, but complete recovery may take 2 to 3 weeks. In cases of mild dengue, the body recovers slowly, but if dengue becomes severe, the platelet count decreases, which can make the recovery process longer.

What to do
* If symptoms of dengue appear, contact the doctor immediately without delay.
*Dengue can cause dehydration in the body, so drink plenty of water and fluids.
*Adequate rest is essential for complete recovery.
