Regarding India’s tough stance against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma said, “We had to take risks to get a result”

India skipper Rohit Sharma realized that his team’s best hope of winning was to adopt a T20-style batting strategy after the weather caused the team to lose two and a half days of play. The job was formidable; aggressive batting carried the danger of early wicket losses, which might have given Bangladesh, who had amassed 233 runs in their first innings, the upper hand.

“To obtain a result, we had to take some chances. I was prepared, as were the coach and the other players, even though I knew the result could go any way. To play that style and make such choices, you must possess enough bravery. Everything seems fine while things are going well, but when they don’t, things may turn sour very fast. Everyone would have then begun to criticize the choices we made. However, our thoughts inside this changing room are what are really important and are what really counted, Rohit said in a BCCI.TV interview that was made public on Wednesday.

In spite of the rain and a soggy field, Rohit Sharma, who took Bangladeshi bowler Nahid Rana for a six on the first ball he faced, articulated the team’s clear intention to chase a result. “We clearly had a strategy and sought a conclusion. Everyone began looking for answers to how we were able to do it,” Rohit said.

The team’s willingness to take this calculated risk, led by head coach Gautam Gambhir, was emphasized by Rohit. Additionally, he recognized the vital roles played by bowlers Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah. Bangladesh, who had recovered to 107/3 on the fourth day, was bowled out for 233 by the Indian bowlers.

“This would not have been possible without the assistance of the other ten players and, of course, those in the dressing room. It’s easy for everyone to get distracted from the objective of winning this test when you lose two and a half days. But the bowlers set the tone when we came on Day 4 needing seven wickets. They made the necessary breakthroughs,” Rohit said.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the Test match with the quickest 50-run opening partnership in history, reaching the mark in only 18 balls, setting the tone for India’s innings. Even while everything seemed to be going according to plan, Rohit pointed out that the team was completely aware of what may happen if their aggressive strategy failed.
