When a truck and a tractor trolley crashed in this Uttar Pradesh area early Friday morning, ten people died and three were hurt, police said.

Superintendent of Police (Mirzapur) Abhinandan said the accident happened around 1 a.m. on G T Road, which is on the border between Mirzapur and Varanasi and runs between Kachhawan and Mirzamurad.

The SP said, “The truck that the driver could not control hit the tractor trolley from behind. It was carrying 13 workers who were coming back from construction work in Bhadohi district.”

When they were told about it, the SP and other top officers rushed to the scene to help with the escape.

“Ten of the 13 injured died, and the other three were taken to the IIT-BHU hospital, where their condition is said to be normal,” the officer said.

Abhinandan said that the police had taken the bodies to the morgue.

He also said that a case has been opened at the Kachhawan police station and that more formal steps are being taken.

The police are looking into what happened very carefully to find out what caused the accident, the officer said.
