A popular city of Punjab, Amritsar is a famous tourist destination. People come from far and wide to see the beauty of the Golden Temple and historical places like Wagah Border and Jallianwala Bagh. Amritsar city is very famous for its cultural heritage and food, but there are many places in and around the city about which people know very little.

Golden Temple

Durgiya Temple

You can visit Durgiya Temple in Amritsar. This temple is also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple. It is situated in the middle of a sacred lake and has the same design as the Golden Temple.

Ram Teerth Mandir Amritsar

Ram Teerth Temple located in Amritsar is dedicated to Lord Ram. According to beliefs, Maharishi Valmiki's ashram was here. Therefore it is also known as Valmiki Tirtha Temple. It is believed that after Lord Rama abandoned Mother Sita, Valmikiji gave shelter to Sitaji in his ashram at this place. Also Luv and Kush were born here.

Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum

Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm on all days except Monday. It is located near the Wagah border in Amritsar. The main objective of this memorial-museum is to showcase the bravery of the brave soldiers of Punjab. There is a 45 meter high stainless steel sword in the complex.
