Unverified rumors state that during Dr. Zakir Naik’s talk in Karachi, a young Hindu man converted to Islam. But the truth shows that the person was already Muslim.
Muhammad Inshal Yousuf, a young person, questioned Dr. Zakir Naik regarding the importance of prayer and how it distinguishes Muslims from non-Muslims.
He talked about how difficult it has been for him to pray on a daily basis since starting school, how he wanted to know if he was still considered a Muslim.
In response, Dr. Zakir Naik emphasized that, regardless of prayer practices, one must believe in Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in order to be a Muslim.
He said that Muslims can be either practicing or non-practicing, and that if a person recognizes the value of prayer, they can still be Muslims even if they don’t pray regularly.
The youth asked a clear inquiry, but media outlets misrepresented stated that he was a non-Muslim who became a Muslim during the event.
After learning that the material on LinkedIn was false, Inshal clarified that he was a born Muslim and reiterated his beliefs by reciting the Shahada with Dr. Naik.
While acknowledging the impact Dr. Zakir Naik has had on millions of non-Muslims, he made it clear that his own path involved returning to Islam rather than converting.
As a result of several news outlets incorrectly calling him a former Hindu, Inshal asked that headlines reflect his return to Hinduism rather than his conversion.
He declared that he intended to live as a devout Muslim and urged others to disseminate his explanation in order to refute the misleading narrative spread by the media.
