Paul Pogba, the World Cup champion for France and a midfielder for Juventus, has apparently started negotiations with the Seria A team about a mutual termination.

According to a Daily Mail article, the 31-year-old midfielder is anticipated to come to a mutually beneficial deal with Juventus to shorten his contract before it expires in June 2026.

After playing for Juventus in their first match of the 2023–24 season against Udinese on August 20, Pogba was banned for failing a drug test.

DHEA, a drug that is prohibited yet increases endogenous testosterone, was detected in his test results. Pogba’s management group, however, appealed the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

The French international’s appeal resulted in a favorable decision on Friday, as the CAS upheld the four-year ban that was imposed in February. The embargo, which went into effect on September 11, 2023, has been shortened to 18 months, with a deadline of March 20, 2025. His first fine of five thousand euros has been refunded.

Pogba is also permitted to resume training in January 2025 by virtue of the verdict.

However, Juventus head coach Thiago Motta said that the team has not yet made a decision on the former Manchester United player.

“The club will make the decision about Pogba. Pogba was an excellent athlete. It’s been a while since he last played. The rest doesn’t matter; I’m focused on tomorrow’s game,” Motta told reporters at a news conference.

On Monday, CAS will formally declare their decision on Pogba’s appeal.
