The results of Mullana Assembly seat of Haryana will be declared today. Voting for the seat was held on October 5. This seat comes under Ambala district. This seat is reserved for members of the Scheduled Caste. In this election, BJP has made Santosh Sarwan its candidate from here. At the same time, Pooja Chaudhary is in the fray from the Congress Party. Dushyant Chautala led JJP has given ticket to Ravindra Dheen while Prakash Bharti has contested from INLD. The political fate of all these candidates will be decided with the declaration of results today.
Congress had won this seat in the last elections. Then the party had fielded Varun Chaudhary. This time Congress has given ticket to Pooja Chaudhary in her place. The most special thing about this seat is that it is dominated by Varun Chaudhary's family. There was a very close contest in the 2019 elections and Congress candidate Varun Chaudhary won by only 1688 votes.
Whereas, if we talk about votes and vote percentage, the Congress candidate on this seat had got 67051 votes which was 43.60 percent of the total voting percentage. At second place was Rajbir Singh of BJP who got 65363 votes. BJP's vote percentage was 42.50 percent. In the then elections, BSP candidate Krishna Das was at third position and got only 10451 votes.
If we look at the 2014 assembly elections, BJP had won this seat and Santosh Chauhan Sarwan was elected MLA. At that time the BJP candidate had got 49970 votes. Whereas, INLD's Rajbir Singh was at second place. Rajbir got 44321 votes. At third place was Congress candidate Varun Chaudhary who got 43915.
Talking about political journey from the seat, it first came into existence in 1967. In the then first election, Republican Party of India leader R Prasad had won. Since then, a total of 13 elections have been held. Of these, the Congress party has won the maximum number of times. Congress has been successful in winning this seat on five seats. At the same time, BJP has won twice while Janata Party has won once.
