star claimed that his wife thought he'd "taken a drug" after he returned home from a run.

Chatting to Jenni Falconer on the latest episode of her RunPod, he explained that there was a perfectly rational explanation for why his wife made the surprising assumption.

Dermot, 51, said that he was simply just experiencing a 'runner's high' after completing his daily exercise: "I came back a couple of days ago and Dee was downstairs and our nanny was here and they were like 'it's like you've taken a drug'.

"And, I'm just talking to them, I don't feel that way, but they were looking at me going 'you are absolutely buzzing right now'."

He continued: "So it's hard for me to say, but yeah it's definitely afterwards that I'm feeling good."

Earlier on in the podcast, the This Morning presenter spoke about his love of running.

Dermot said he only started taking up the hobby after his days of playing team sports were curbed when he started a career in broadcasting.

Enjoying his new found hobby so much, he would later go on to compete in three London marathons as well as several half marathons.

On Sunday, October 13, he completed his latest in a long line of half marathons after he ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon and joked as he told JustGiving's TikTok which of his former X Factor colleagues he'd nominate to compete in the race.

He said: "(Nicole) Scherzinger could win it, like she's super fit. I'd like to see Simon (Cowell) give it a go. Come on Cowell! Let's go!"

Dermot started out in broadcasting as a presenter in 1998 on Channel 4's T4 show (that was cancelled in 2012), that usually aired on weekends.

He soon started to become a more regular face on our TV screens with presenting roles on Big Brother and The X Factor, before making the move to ITV's This Morning.
