Bengaluru: Heavy rainfall lashed Bengaluru on Monday morning, leading to flooded streets and traffic delays. Waterlogging and traffic jams were reported from various parts of the city, resulting in problems for the residents. Visuals of the same are doing rounds on social media, with several netizens sharing videos of waterlogging and traffic. With increasing issues, the rainfall has triggered a wave of public outrage, with many criticising the government and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagere Palike (BBMP) for failing to repair the city's infrastructure. In a X post, a user posted a video showcasing a water clogged road. The user while sharing the video, captioned, ''This is state of Bangalore (silicon valley of India) Taxes like Europe, services like Somalia.'' Another user sharing the videos of waterlogging from areas such as Sarjapur, Koramangala and others, captioned, ''Bengaluru rains: Monday's downpour battered tech hubs like Sarjapur, Koramangala, Sakra Hospital Rd/Mantri Espana Deverabeesanahalli, Kariyammana Agrahara, HSR Layout, ORR etc BBMP officials need to pull up their socks.''

Further criticising the government and BBMP, Karnataka Portfolio posted videos of traffic jams at Silk Board due to heavy rainfall and water-filled roads. The X handle, wrote, ''Earlier, we used to complain about the never-ending traffic jams at Silk Board, but now, under the Brand Bengaluru scheme, we’ve got a new addition—a river flowing right through Silk Board every time it rains! What was once known for its frustrating traffic has now turned into a waterlogged mess. From now on, citizens might as well consider buying boats or ships to navigate across the Silk Board area.''

The post further read, ''A big thanks goes out to the BBMP and DK Shivakumar, whose lack of effective planning and management has led to the city’s worsening condition.''

Reacting on the current rain situation in Bengaluru, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge said, ''We have had unusual rains this year. It is going to continue like this as power the MET Department...It is quite natural that when there is incessant rain, such heavy rains, that infrastructure will be damaged. But the DCM who is the in charge of Bengaluru has laid out a clear plan for the BBMP for filling up potholes and also ensuring that drainages are cleared. Yes, there will be certain problems initially but I am sure that the BBMP is pretty equipped to handle it,'' as quoted by ANI.
