Allies of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are engaged in maneuvering for seat share in the assembly by-elections. Especially the problem of Nishad Party is still stuck in this. No final decision could be taken in the meeting between BJP President JP Nadda and Sanjay Nishad late on Monday night. Now, to resolve the issue of seats with Nishad Party, JP Nadda has appointed General Secretary Sunil Bansal.

According to the information, an important meeting will be held today between Sanjay Nishad and Sunil Bansal on this issue. There will be a meeting of Sunil Bansal and Sanjay Nishad in BJP office extension building. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya were also present along with JP Nadda in the meeting held on Monday.

Case stuck on seat sharing

Actually, BJP's issue is stuck on seat sharing with the weak Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal (Nishad). The regional party, which claims the support of politically important fishermen communities, cited preference and alliance religion in support of its demand for two seats. Nishad Party chief and minister Sanjay Nishad is currently camping in Delhi to garner support for his demand.

Nishad Party adamant on two seats

Nishad Party is demanding Majhwa assembly seats of Mirzapur district and Kathari assembly seats of Ambedkar Nagar, where it had contested on its symbol in the 2022 assembly elections. The by-election became necessary because Nishad Party MLA Vinod Bind (on BJP ticket) from Majhwa became MP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

What is the argument of Nishad Party?

A source in the Nishad Party argued that what we are seeking is logical and based on the earlier experiment because in 2019, Sangam Lal Gupta, then an MLA of BJP ally Apna Dal (S), had used the BJP symbol for Pratapgarh. Became an MP. He said during the assembly by-elections held after Sangam Lal Gupta became MP, it was Apna Dal (S) which fielded its candidate on the seat as part of the BJP-Apna Dal (S) alliance.

He said 'Even in Kathari, despite losing in 2022 elections, we have a case like, despite losing from Swar Assembly seat of Rampur in 2022 elections, Apna Dal (S) candidate has filed a petition against the disqualification of Swar MLA Abdullah Azam. The reason was that he had fielded his candidate after the by-election.

Voting on 9 seats on November 13

According to the Election Commission, voting for Uttar Pradesh Assembly seats Karhal, Kundarki, Katehari, Sisamau, Khair, Ghaziabad Sadar, Mirapur, Majhwa and Phulpur will be held on November 13 and counting of votes will take place on November 23. Election has not been declared for one seat Milkipur in Ayodhya district due to a court case.

Nishad Party had fought in Majhwa and Katehri

In the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, BJP had given Majhwa and Katehari out of 10 seats to its ally Nishad Party and fielded its candidates on all the remaining seats. Nishad Party won in Majhwa but lost in Katehri. On the other hand, out of eight seats, BJP had won only Khair, Ghaziabad Sadar and Phulpur seats. At the same time, SP had won five and its ally at that time, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) had won one.
