Can online transactions be hindered in the coming days? OTP is used in online transactions and many other services. The transaction is completed only when the OTP is entered. Preparations are being made to replace it with a new safety method, which will help prevent fraud. According to a TOI report, now telecom companies have warned that the new directive that is going to be implemented from November 1 can hinder those works in which OTP is necessary.

According to the report, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has contacted the Telecom Regulatory Authority in this matter and has asked for more time to implement the new rule. The country's big companies, Jio, Airtel, and Voda-Idea, are members of COAI.

TRAI has ordered that from November, telecom companies will have to ensure that the messages sent from PEs to recipients are traceable. Such messages are undefined. Those with mismatched telemarketer chains should be rejected. They should not reach people.

According to the report, telecom operators have warned that telemarketers and PEs have not yet implemented the necessary technical solutions. In such a situation, messages containing OTP and other important information will not reach people.

Data shows that 1.5 to 1.7 billion messages are sent daily in India. Telecom operators have told TRAI that their systems are ready to implement the new rule from November 1. However, telemarketers and PEs have not completed their necessary work. Due to this, people may face problems.

Telecom companies have demanded more time from RBI. They say that major entities (PEs) and telemarketers need more time for scrubbing messaging traffic. Companies have proposed to TRAI that this work can be done in 'logger mode' from November 1. During this time, companies will not block traffic in case of any discrepancy. By doing this, people will not face any problems.

Telecom companies say that they will send daily reports to telemarketers and major organizations. The rule can be fully followed from December 1.
