Bhai Dooj Story
According to mythology, on the second day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, Yamuna Ji hosted her brother Yamraj at her home with great respect and fed him. While going to his sister's house, Yamraj freed the creatures living in hell. Sister Yamuna invited her brother home, applied Tilak on him and served him various kinds of food. While leaving, Yamraj asked sister Yamuna to ask for a boon of her choice. Yamuna said that if you want to give me a boon, then give me this boon that every year on this day you will come to my place and accept my hospitality. Yamraj accepted Yamuna's prayer. Since then, this day is celebrated as Bhai Dooj.
