Chennai: More than 13,000 kms away from Washington, where U.S. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris is running for the White House, prayers were held at her ancestral village in Tamil Nadu's Thulasendrapuram on Tuesday. Special prayers were held for at the temple in Thulasendrapuram for the victory of Kamala Harris. At the temple, Harris' name is engraved into a stone that lists public donations, along with that of her grandfather. Outside, a large banner wishes "the daughter of the land" success in the election.The village first received global attention four years ago, when its residents prayed for victory for Harris' Democratic Party in 2020 before celebrating her inauguration as U.S. Vice President by setting off firecrackers and distributing food.
